We’ve published our Impact Report 2024
Jun 25, 2025
2024 was a year when sustainable investing was in the spotlight more than ever. During this time, we continued delivering meaningful impact across our portfolio and the communities we serve. We made tangible progress across our three core impact pillars: gender equity, quality job creation and climate action.
Gender equity
We doubled-down on our commitment to gender-smart investing. Our Fund III received a ‘Best-in-Class' certification from 2X Global – the first private equity fund in the world to receive this accolade. We also continued to work with our partner companies to ensure they raise the bar on gender equity. This included developing a gender action plan in partnership with Medplus – Nigeria's leading retail pharmacy business – which has helped improve career development for women and increase training budgets.
Quality job creation
Africa’s greatest asset is its workforce. At Verod, we invest in businesses that prioritise quality job creation through skills development, fair labour practices and career growth. In 2024, for example, we introduced the People Practice Handbook, a tailored guide that sets industry-specific best practices for improving job quality.
Climate action
Our climate mitigation efforts took a leap forward in 2024. We provided technical assistance to pharmaceutical company, Emzor, and telecoms business, Pan African Towers, to help them reduce their carbon footprints. Climate action is now core to our investment strategy as we look to drive lasting impact across the continent.
Looking ahead
“The need for sustainable impact in Africa is greater than ever, and we will continue to step up our efforts.”
- Danladi Verheijen, Managing Partner, Verod
The global macroeconomic tremors that began to be felt in 2024 have continued into 2025. This has made us steadfast in our mission to support lasting growth on the continent. We look forward to soon launching our Fund IV, which will mark a strategic expansion into the Francophone region. This fund will sharpen our focus on climate and deepen partnerships with local investors, aligning capital with Africa’s most pressing development priorities.
